I’ve got a super cute and simple free crochet mandala pattern for you. Like my other mandala design that I released recently, this one is 7 rounds and uses dk weight yarn. A quick and easy project that looks especially lovely mounted in a hoop. Let’s dive in and start the Sunny Day Mini Mandala:

Notes:
– Pattern is written in US terms
– This pattern takes very little yarn. You may choose to make your mandala one solid colour or alternate throughout the rounds.
– Cluster refers to the set of stitches, stitched into a chain space. Specifically in rounds 4 and 6

Materials Needed:
– DK weight yarn, up to 7 colours if desired. (I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter)
– 3.5mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors

Stitches:
CH – chain
SS – Slip stitch
SC – Single crochet
HDC – Half double crochet
DC – Double crochet
TR – Triple crochet

Pattern:
With your first colour, begin by making a magic circle OR ch 3 and slip stitch into your beginning ch to form a loop.

Round 1:
– Ch 3 (will represent 1 dc, ch 1).
– Into your circle, create 1 dc followed by ch 1 (9 times).
– Ss into the 2nd ch of your beginning ch 3.
Fasten off.
[10 dc, 10 ch 1 spaces]

Round 2:
– With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
– In this space and each each ch space, place 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc.
– Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[20 sc, 10 ch 1 spaces]

Round 3:
– With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
– In the same space and into each ch space around, make 1 sc, ch 4.
– Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[10 sc, 10 ch 4 spaces]

Round 4:
– With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
– Into this ch space and each ch space around, make 5 sc.
– Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[10 clusters of 5 sc stitches]

Round 5:
– Begin in any sc cluster by skipping the first two sc.
– Into the third sc, join your next colour with a ss followed by 1 sc into the same stitch.
– *Ch 5. Skip the next 4 sc and place 1 sc into the next stitch.*
– Repeat from * to * 9 more times.
– Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[10 sc, 10 ch 5 spaces]

Round 6:
– With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
– Into this space and each ch space around, make 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
– Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[10 fan clusters]

Round 7:
– With your final colour, begin in the back loop of the first sc of any fan cluster with a ss.
– Create 1 ss into the back loop of every stitch within the fan cluster.
– Ss into the top of your beginning ss.
Fasten off.
