Have you ever found yourself working on a project and when it’s time to take a break, noticed that you’re covered in yarn bits? It’s especially common when working with multiple colour changes and after weaving in ends. I have a simple solution to help!

Wherever your crochet space is, keep a small jar or container beside you to collect all your leftover yarn bits. It helps keep your creative space tidy and all those little cut off ends together.

Now before you toss that full jar of yarn ends into the garbage, there are some ideas on how they can be repurposed.

– Use them as amigurumi stuffing. I would only recommend this to items that are for meant décor or older children. Babies and small children could pull the yarn bits out and be at risk for sticking them in their mouth.
– Create a supervised art activity with the kids for some craft time. Make some colourful yarn art by gluing the scraps to paper.

While it can be tempting to toss the jar of empty bits outside for the birds and squirrels to use in their nests, I would caution against it. It does sound like a helpful and kind gesture to our animal friends, but, it is not recommended because of the protentional dangers associated with it.
