There’s a definite chill in the air and that means it’s time to bring out all the thick and cozy yarn for crochet projects. I have a great pattern for you that works up quickly and has a beautiful textured design. If you can create a chain, single crochet and double crochet, you can make this. Check it out!
To make this ear warmer, you will need to be familiar with how to create the suzette stitch. I promise it’s very straightforward (only single crochet and double crochet). If you need a refresher or would like to learn how to create this stitch, please visit the tutorial here: Suzette Stitch Tutorial
When you’re ready to begin, let’s create a beautiful and simple ear warmer.
Materials Needed:
– Bulky weight yarn (I used less than 1 skein of Red Heart Soft Essentials)
– 6mm hook
– Scissors
– Yarn needle
Stitches:
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
Suzette Stitch Ear Warmer:
Begin by chaining 12.
Row 1:
Into the second chain from your hook, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.
*Into the next stitch, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.*
Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left.
Skip the next stitch. Into the last stitch, place 1 sc and turn.
Row 2:
Into the first stitch, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.
*Into the next stitch, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.*
Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left.
Skip the next stitch. Into the last stitch, place 1 sc and turn.
Row 3:
Into the first stitch, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.
*Into the next stitch, create 1 sc and 1 dc. Skip the next stitch.*
Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left.
Skip the next stitch. Into the last stitch, place 1 sc and turn.
Repeat the rows for as long as you like, until you reach the desired length of your ear warmer. I completed a total of 44 rows being approximately 17 1/2 inches long for a small/medium size, made to fit me.
Once you’ve reached the length you need, fasten off but leave a yarn tail of about 15 inches. Use your yarn needle to seam your two short ends together using your preferred method.
Weave in the ends and you’re done! These ear warmers make great gifts and work up so quickly, especially with the bulky yarn. I really enjoyed using Red Heart Soft Essentials, it’s super soft and cozy and is available at most craft and yarn retailers.
I would love to see your super simple ear warmers using the suzette stitch. Be sure to tag me on Instagram using @sweet_bee_crochet to show them off.
