Super Cozy Ear Warmer – Free Pattern

There’s a definite chill in the air and that means it’s time to bring out all the thick and cozy yarn for crochet projects. I have a great pattern for you that works up quickly and has a beautiful textured design. If you can create a chain, single crochet and double crochet, you can make this. Check it out!

You may sell items completed from this pattern but please provide credit back to Sweet Bee Crochet and if possible, link back to the pattern location. Notes:
– Gauge is not terribly important for this pattern
– To adjust the width, chain an even number of stitches
– To adjust the length, decrease or increase the row repeat

Materials Needed:
– Bulky weight yarn (I used less than 1 skein of Red Heart Soft Essentials)
– 6mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape

Stitches:
SK – Skip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorial:
Suzette Stitch –
One SC and one DC are placed into the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Repeat. After the last skipped stitch of the row, place 1 SC. Detailed walkthrough: Click here

Pattern:
CH 12

Row 1:
Into the 2nd CH from your hook, make 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch. *In the next stitch, make 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left. Into the last stitch, place 1 SC and turn.

(6 SC, 5 DC = 11 stitches)

Row 2:
Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch. *In the next stitch, create 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left. Into the last stitch, place 1 SC and turn.

(6 SC, 5 DC = 11 stitches)

Repeat row 2 for as long as you like, until you reach the desired length of your ear warmer. I completed a total of 44 rows being approximately 17 1/2 inches long for a small/medium size, made to fit me.

Once you’ve reached the length you need, fasten off but leave a yarn tail of about 15 inches. Use your yarn needle to seam your two short ends together using your preferred method.

Weave in the ends and you’re done! These ear warmers make great gifts and work up so quickly, especially with the bulky yarn. I really enjoyed using Red Heart Soft Essentials, it’s super soft and cozy and is available at most craft and yarn retailers. I hope you enjoyed this pattern, happy crocheting!
