Today I have a quick and free crochet tutorial on how to make a fun and cute skirt for a 12 inch fashion doll.

Notes:
– Pattern is written in US terms
– Ch 1 or ch 2 at the beginning of rounds do not count as a stitch
– I will not be counting stitches in each round as it is dependent on how many you decide to start in your first round. Gauge is not important for this pattern.
– If you are using multiple colours of yarn, you may wish to change colours as you transition to each row.

Materials Needed:
– Use whatever hook is recommended on your yarn label. I would however suggest a 4 or 5mm hook.
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– 1 inch fabric hair elastic
– Any worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn in at least one colour. If you want to create stripes, add some pop with multiple colours.

Stitches:
SS – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Pattern:
Round 1:
To begin, attach your yarn to the elastic and chain 1. Place 20-26 sc stitches into the elastic. The more stitches you place, the wider and more puffy the skirt will be. I tend to make 22 stitches. When you have finished your desired number of sc stitches, ss into beginning sc. Ch 1.

Round 2:
Place 2 sc into the first stitch and 1 sc into the next stitch. Continue with this increase until you are back at the beginning of the round. Ss into beginning sc. Ch 2.

Round 3:
Place 1 dc into each stitch around. Ss into beginning dc. Ch 2.

Round 4:
Place 1 dc into each stitch around. Ss into beginning dc. Ch 2.

This this point you should start to see the skirt shape forming.

Continue repeating round 4 until you reach your desired length. Once you are happy with the length of the skirt, fasten off and weave in your ends.

Make this skirt short for rockin’ fashion parties or make it a long ballroom style!
