Today’s crochet tip Tuesday is all about organizing patterns! Organizing your pattern collection is a personal preference and will depend on how you like to sort them. Below, I’ll share with you how I like to keep my own pattern collection organized.

I have a mixture of pattern formats and they’re all spread out into different organizing methods.

On my shelf, I have a small (but growing) collections of crochet books. Most of them include patterns and tutorials. These books are all kept together for easy access next to my favourite comfy crochet spot.

I also have a binder where I keep all my free and paid patterns that I have printed off. I went to my local dollar store and picked up a few packs of plastic page protectors which I then put all my patterns into. I like nice and crisp papers without bent corners so this is just a personal preference. I also have this binder sorted with dividers into sections such as “blankets”, “hats/mittens”, “scarves/shawls”, etc.

For patterns that I have saved online, I tend to use Ravelry and Pinterest the most. When I pin a pattern on Pinterest (say that 5 times fast) from a designers blog, I make sure to pin the direct link. That way I can reference it back correctly, and, also let other people find and access it easily. It’s also nice for credit purposes and to promote traffic to that designer’s blog. The other online resource I like to make use of for saving online patterns is Ravelry. I don’t have too many saved because I often will print available versions out for my pattern binder. However, it is a great way to keep your favourite designers and patterns just a click away.
