Gift giving is always enjoyable. The excitement and joy of watching others open a present that we hand picked or hand made especially for them is lovely to see. Next time you have an occasion that requires a gift, consider adding a special crochet gift tag, personalized for someone special. This free crochet pattern is only thee simple rounds and works up in a speedy 15 minutes. Here we go!

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Beginning ch of each round does not count as a stitch

Materials Needed:
– Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in two colours (A and B)
– 4mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, begin with a magic circle or chain 3 and ss into the beginning ch to form a loop.

Round 1: Ch 2 and place 10 dc into your circle. SS into the top of the beginning dc. (10)

Round 2: Continue with yarn colour A and ch 2. Place 2 dc into each stitch around. SS into the top of beginning dc. Fasten off. (20)

Round 3: With yarn colour B, begin in any stitch and ch 1. Place 2 sc into each stitch around. SS into the top of beginning sc. (40) Do not fasten off.

To make the chain to hang: Continue by chaining 30 and then ss into the next stitch beside your beginning sc. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Design Details:
This is where you can really get creative and personal with your gift tag. With a needle and a few inches of yarn, stitch in the first letter of the recipient’s name into the centre of the tag. Alternately, you may choose to stitch in a small applique into the centre that represents the occasion or theme. Have fun with it!

To attach your tag to a gift bag:
Wrap you chain around the handle and pull the tag through.
