Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– The SC of round 6 is worked into the 3rd loop of the previous row of HDC. A tutorial is included below
– Beginning CH 1 does not count as a stitch
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– This pattern works best with worsted weight yarn or higher. The thicker the yarn, the larger your basket will be

Materials Needed:
– Some stash yarn (yardage required varies on weight used. For reference, approximate amounts are: worsted weight (8-9 yards), bulky weight (15-16 yards) super bulky (16-17 yards)

– Stitch marker (if you would like to keep track of the first stitch of each round)
– Scissors

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC- Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorial:
3rd Loop of HDC: The 3rd loop will found at the back of the stitch (away from you). It is below the traditional “V” shape found at the top of the stitch. When the 3rd loop is used, the “V” shape will be pushed out and displayed as an accent. Below is a photo of the round that will use this method.

Pattern:
Begin with a magic circle. Alternately, you may CH 3 and SS into the first CH to form a loop. CH 1.

Round 1:
Into your loop, place 12 SC. SS into the top of the beginning SC and CH 1.

SS into the top of the beginning SC and CH 1.

(30 SC stitches)

Turn your circle so that the right side is facing away from you. This will be the bottom of your basket that faces up.

Round 5:
Work this round into the back loops of the previous SC round (the loops that are now the furthest away from you)
Into the first stitch and each stitch around, place 1 HDC. SS into the top of the beginning HDC and CH 1.

(30 HDC stitches)

Round 6:
Place 1 SC into the 3rd loop of each HDC around. SS into the top of the beginning SC. Fasten off, weave in ends. Don’t forget to tighten your magic circle!

(30 SC stitches)

These baskets are perfect for holding small items and helping to keep things organized. Some ideas for use are:
– Hold stitch markers, tape measure or other small craft supplies
– Baskets made with thicker yarn could be used to hold keys or even small skeins of yarn.
– Place on your desk to hold paper clips and push pins
– Keep in your night stand to hold hair elastics or lip balm

What will you use your stash buster mini basket for?
