Bulky Bobble Neck Warmer (Free Crochet Pattern)

9Shares

As many of you know, I really love working with the bobble stitch. It’s fun, eye catching and can add a lot of great texture to your projects. Using the beautiful “Eden” colourway of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick, I’ve combined a mix of the bobble stitch and suzette stitch to create the Bulky Bobble Neck Warmer. Because of the hook size and thickness of the yarn it worked up in no time at all!

Pattern:
CH 18

Row 1:
Into the second CH from your hook and each CH across, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(17 SC stitches)

Row 2:
Into each of the first two stitches, place 1 SC. Into the next stitch, make 1 BO.
Repeat this sequence of 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 BO four more times. Place 1 SC into each of the last two stitches. CH 1 and turn.

(12 SC stitches, 5 BO stitches = 17 stitches)

Row 3:
Into the first stitch make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Into the next stitch, make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat this sequence until you have two stitches remaining. Skip the next stitch. Place 1 SC into the last stitch, CH 1 and turn.

(9 SC stitches, 8 DC stitches = 17 stitches)

Row 4:
Into the first stitch make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Into the next stitch, make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat this sequence until you have two stitches remaining. Skip the next stitch. Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn.

(9 SC stitches, 8 DC stitches = 17 stitches)

Row 5:
Into the first stitch make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Into the next stitch, make 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat this sequence until you have two stitches remaining. Skip the next stitch. Place 1 SC into the last stitch, CH 1 and turn.

(9 SC stitches, 8 DC stitches = 17 stitches)

At this point you have created your base row of SC stitches (row 1), followed by your BO/SC stitches (row 2) and three rows of suzette stitches (rows 3, 4, 5).

The remaining length of the pattern is repetition of rows 2-5 eleven more times. If you would prefer a longer or shorter length neck warmer, you might consider extending or decreasing the pattern repetition achieve your desired length.

Seaming:
Place your neck warmer bobble side down. Bring the two short edges together and use your preferred method for seaming them together. Some popular options are using a slip stitch, single crochet or using a yarn needle to joing with a mattress stitch or whip stitch. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Great job! Your Bulky Bobble Neck Warmer is complete! I hope you enjoyed making this colourful and cozy project. Happy crocheting!
