Spring Dreams Coaster – Free Pattern

103Shares

I’m here with another fun and speedy crochet pattern for you! This happy and colourful coaster pattern works up in about 15 minutes. It’s fast, cute and a great project for when you need a little crochet recharge. Make them as per the pattern with 3 colours of cotton yarn or use one colour for a nice solid effect. I’ve included a written and photo walkthrough and it’s very beginner friendly. Ready to go? Find the free pattern below…

As of July 30th, 2022 this pattern has received an update to be consistent with the layout and formats of my recent designs. If you’ve saved it to Ravelry, it has been updated there as well!

This pattern uses Dishie cotton yarn from WeCrochet. It’s incredibly soft and comes in some amazing shades! You can read my review here: Dishie Yarn Review. Haven’t ordered from WeCrochet before? I have a review for that too: My Experience Ordering From WeCrochet.

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– Finished coaster measures approximately 4 inches in diameter
– Beginning CH of each round counts as a stitch. Please refer to the pattern for clarification on what it represents for each individual round
– Step by step photos can be found on the last page for optional printing

Materials Needed:
– Approximately 9-10 yards total of worsted weight cotton yarn. I used WeCrochet Dishie in three different colours (referred to as colour A, colour B and colour C). The colourways seen in the photos are “Honeydew”, “Conch” and “Azure”
– 4mm hook (I used my Furls Streamline “Teak” and it’s a dream to crochet with!)
– Yarn needle
– Scissors

Stitches:
SK – Skip stitch
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, begin with a magic ring OR CH 3 and SS into beginning chain to form a loop.

Round 1:
CH 2 (counts as 1 DC) and place 9 DC into the magic ring/loop. SS into the top of the beginning CH 2 and fasten off.

(10 stitches)

Round 2:
With yarn colour B, attach yarn into the top of any DC stitch and CH 3 (represents 1 DC, CH 1). In the same stitch space, place 1 DC. In the next stitch, place *1 DC, CH 1, 1 DC*. Repeat from * to * 8 more times. SS into the second CH of the beginning CH 3 and fasten off.

(20 DC stitches, 10 CH 1 spaces)

Round 3:
With yarn colour C, join yarn into any CH 1 space with a SS (represents 1 SC). *CH 3. SK over the next 2 DC and place 1 SC into the next CH 1 space*. Repeat this sequence from * to * 8 more times. CH 3 and SS into the top of the beginning SS. (Do not change colours. Continue to round 4 using colour C)

(10 SC stitches, 10 CH 3 spaces)

Round 4:
Begin working directly into the next CH 3 space. *Place 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC. SK the next SC. * Repeat this sequence from * to * 9 more times. SS into the beginning SC of the round. Fasten off and weave in ends.

(10 Petals, each containing 5 stitches = 50 stitches)
