I’m here with another fun and speedy crochet pattern for you! This happy and colourful coaster pattern works up in about 15 minutes for each one. It’s fast, cute and a great project for when you need a little crochet recharge. Make them as per the pattern with 3 colours of cotton yarn or use one colour for a nice solid effect. I’ve included a written and photo walkthrough and it’s very beginner friendly. Ready to go? Read on and don’t forget to pin it so you can make it again.
You may sell items completed from this pattern but please provide credit back to Sweet Bee Crochet and if possible, link back to pattern location. You may not sell this written pattern or use my photos without consent. You may not use my photos to sell your completed items.
*I would love see your own creative spin on colours and how you’ve made it unique. Tag me on Instagram (@sweet_bee_crochet) to show off your finished piece!*
– This pattern includes colour changing. You may use your preferred method for switching colours as long as the stitch count remains the same.
– The pattern is written in US terms.
– Chain 2 at the beginning of rounds counts as a stitch.
– Worsted weight cotton yarn in 3 colours (I used Bernat Handicrafter)
– 4mm crochet hook (5mm would also be appropriate if preferred)
– Yarn needle
SS – slip stitch
CH – chain
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
Begin with a magic ring OR chain 3 and slip stitch into beginning chain to form a circle
Ch 2 and place 9 dc into circle. Ss into the top of the beginning ch 2. (Remembering your beginning ch 2 counts as a stitch, 10 stitches total) [change yarn colours]
(For this round, you will be chaining 3 at the beginning instead of 2. It will represent 1 dc, 1 ch)
Attach your new colour into the top of any double crochet stitch and then then ch 3. In the same stitch space, place 1 dc. In the next stitch, place *1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc. Repeat this sequence from the * all the way around. Ss into the second ch of the beginning ch 3. [change colours] (10 “dc, ch, dc” clusters total)
Attach your new colour into any chain space between double crochet stitches make 1 sc. *Ch 3. Skip over the next 2 dc and place 1 sc into the next ch 1 space. Repeat this sequence from the * all the way around. After you have completed your last ch 3, ss into the top of the beginning sc. [Do not change colours. Continue to round 4] (10 sc and 10 chain sections)
In the first ch 3 space: * place 1 sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. Repeat this sequence from * in each ch 3 space all the way around. When you back to the beginning of your round, place 1 ss into the space between your last sc and the first sc of the round. Fasten off and weave in ends. (10 “petals” in each chain space)
