Notes:

– Chain 2 at the beginning of rounds 1 and 2 do not count as a stitch.

Materials Needed:
– Worsted acrylic yarn in a pumpkin orange shade, green and brown.
– Black embroidery thread
– 4mm hook
– 3.5 mm hook
– Scissors
– Yarn needle for weaving in ends
– Embroidery needle for sewing details
– Poly-fil stuffing

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
DC – Double crochet

Pattern:

Circle (Make 2)
Using your 4mm hook and the orange yarn, begin with a magic circle. Alternately, you may chain 3 and ss into the beginning chain to form a loop.

Round 1:
Into your circle, ch 2 followed by 10 dc. SS into the top of your beginning dc (10)

Round 2:
Ch 2. Into each stitch, place 2 dc. SS into the top of your beginning dc. (20)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Face Details:
Switching to your embroidery thread, choose 1 circle to stitch the face into. Make sure you are working into the right side. You might prefer to make a simple outline of the eyes and mouth or fill them in completely. Below are examples of both styles.

If you’d like to make just a pumpkin, you can skip this step altogether.

Assembling You Pumpkin:
Place your pumpkins together with the wrong sides in, facing each other. Ensure your pumpkin face is outwards. Cut a piece of orange yarn approximately 20 inches long and use your yarn needle to stitch the edges together with your preferred method. A few stitches before finishing, add a few small fluffs of poly-fil stuffing to plump up your pumpkin. Continue to sew your edges together.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.

Stem and Vines:
Switch to your 3.5mm hook and brown yarn. Into the top of the dc stitch from round 2, in the middle above the eyes, join with a ss. Ch 16 and ss back into the top of the dc stitch that you joined to.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Vines (Make 2)
Continuing with your 3.5mm hook, switch to your green yarn and ch 12.

Row 1:
Into the second ch from your hook, place 1 ss. Skip the next stitch and place 1 ss into the following stitch. Continue this repetition of “skip, ss” until the end of your row. Stitch your two vines into the base of the stem.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
