About This Pattern:

This design uses the lemon peel stitch. It’s a wonderful variation of the single and double crochet stitches so it’s a great project for beginners. If you aren’t familiar with this stitch or need a quick refresher, the pattern includes a special stitch tutorial which you can also find here: Lemon Peel Stitch

Traditionally, this stitch is worked into both loops across the row. However, this pattern uses a slight placement variation by using only the front and back loops. It creates a gorgeous texture and combined with the bulky yarn creates a really pretty effect. Back loop single crochet is also used as an accent to create an appealing change of texture.

Materials Needed:

  • Approximately 266-268 yards of bulky (#5) yarn. I used Red Heart Soft Essentials but any comparable yarn should work. Please keep in mind the yardage amount on the label.
  • 8mm crochet hook (I used my Furls Streamline Camwood)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

My testers completed this pattern with beautiful results. The feedback they provided was very positive and they all enjoyed working on this design. You can see their lovely versions below:
