I hope you enjoy making the Suzy Flower Face Scrubbies! The name comes from the use of the suzette stitch within the pattern. The height variation made by the use of double crochet and single crochet stitches helps to create a gentle wave effect mimicking the appearance of a flower.
Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms|
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– Finished face scrubbie measures approximately 3.5 inches in diameter
– CH 1 does not count as a stitch for rounds 1-4
– CH 1 counts as 1 SS for round 5
– Because these stitches are fairly dense, you might find it beneficial to place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round to mark the beginning
– This scrubbie can be made in one or two colours. You can use one colour for round 1 and then a second colour for rounds 2-5
– Rounds 3 and 4 can appear wavy due to the height difference of the stitches. This will help to create the flower appearance when round 5 is complete
– Special stitch tutorial is included within the pattern
– Photos showing each round completed can be found on the last page of the pattern
Materials Needed:
– Approximately 10-11 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Dishie Cotton from
WeCrochet
– 4mm hook. If you crochet tightly, you might find it more comfortable to go up to a 4.5mm or 5mm hook. Keep in mind that this could change the yardage used and slightly increase the size of the scrubbie
– 1 stitch marker
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
Special Stitch Tutorial:
Suzette Stitch – For this pattern, we will be working with a variation of the Suzette Stitch. This stitch is made by placing 1 SC and 1 DC into the same stitch followed by skipping the next stitch. However, for this face scrubbie, you will not be skipping stitches and will be using it to create the round increases.
