Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Gauge is: 2×2 inches = 7 rows of suzette stitch, each containing 4 suzette stitch combinations across.
– Turning CH does not count as a stitch
– Special stitch tutorials are included within the pattern
– Bobble rows should begin and end with a SC
– Finished dish mat with edging measure approximately 15 inches long and 12 ½ inches wide.

Materials Needed:
– Approximately 216-217 yards of Caron Cotton Cakes (I used the Rose Whisper colourway) Check out my review of Caron Cotton Cakes here.
– 4mm hook (I used my Furls Streamline Teak hook)
– Yarn needle
– Scissors

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS –Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
BO – Bobble Stitch

Special Stitch Tutorial:
Suzette Stitch: One SC and DC are placed into the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Repeat. After the last skipped stitch of the row, place 1 SC.

Bobble Stitch: Yarn over and insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops on hook (2 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (4 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (5 loops now on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. Do not CH to close the cluster, instead place 1 SC into the next stitch.

Pattern:
CH 48 and begin row one in the second CH from your hook.

Row 1:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, make 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.
(47 SC stitches)

Row 2:
Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Into the next stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat from * to * 21 more times.
Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn.
(24 SC stitches, 23 DC stitches = 47 stitches)

Row 3:
Into the first stitch, place 1 SC. Into the second stitch, place 1 BO. Into the next stitch, place 1 SC followed by 1 BO in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * 21 more times until there is one stitch left. Place 1 SC in the final stitch. CH 1 and turn.
(24 SC stitches, 23 BO stitches = 47 stitches)

Rows 4-50:
Repeat row 2

Row 51:
Repeat row 3

Row 52:
Repeat row 2

Row 53:
Repeat row 1 (don’t forget to CH 1 at the end)

Edging:
Place 1 SC into each stitch across the row. Into the last stitch, place 2 more SC to create the corner curve around to the next edge. Evenly place 1 SC around all edges working 3 SC stitches into each corner stitch space, except the last one. In the final corner, place 2 SC and SS into the top of the first SC of your edging. Fasten off and weave in ends.
