Bobble Edge Neck Warmer – Free Crochet Pattern

33Shares

Hands up if you love a cute and cozy crochet neck warmer! Today I’m sharing an updated version of my Bobble Edge Neck Warmer. Originally published in August 2020, this neck warmer was one of my earlier designs. I’ve learned a lot since then and wanted to spruce up this pattern up with an updated layout and photos.

With some great texture and a simple design, it uses the bobble stitch and the herringbone double crochet stitch and tutorials for both are included within the pattern. I’ve got you covered! Let’s begin…

Bobble Stitch (BO) –
YO, insert hook into stitch. YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through first 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook). *YO, insert hook into same stitch. YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook). Repeat from * until 5 loops on hook. YO, pull through all loops on hook. Do not CH to close, instead move to the next stitch and place 1 SC. Across rows 2 and 20, this will look like: 1 BO, 1 SC, 1 BO, 1 SC etc.

Pattern:
With colour A, CH 92 and begin row 1 in the second CH from your hook.

Row 1:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn your work.

(91 SC stitches)

Row 2:
Join yarn colour B into the first stitch with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch, place 1 SC. *Make 1 BO in the next stitch, and 1 SC in the following stitch*. Repeat from * to * 44 more times. Fasten off and turn your work.

(45 BO stitches, 46 SC stitches = 91 stitches)

Row 3:
Join yarn colour A into the first stitch with a SS, CH 1. Into this stitch and each stitch across, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn your work.

(91 SC stitches)

Row 4:
Join yarn colour C into the first stitch with a SS, CH 1. Into this stitch and each stitch across, place 1 HBDC. CH 2 and turn.

(91 HBDC stitches)

Rows 5-18:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, place 1 HBDC. CH 2 and turn for all rows except after row 18. When row 18 is done, fasten off and turn your work.

(91 HBDC stitches)

Row 19:
Join yarn colour A into the first stitch with a SS, CH 1. Into this stitch and each stitch across, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn your work.

(91 SC stitches)

Row 20:
Repeat row 2

(45 BO stitches, 46 SC stitches = 91 stitches)

Row 21:
Repeat row 3. Fasten off.

(91 SC stitches)

Lying flat, your neck warmer should measure approximately 28 inches x 7 ½  inches.

Seaming:
With your bobbles facing up, fold your edges in to meet (photo A). Cut a long piece of yarn (I used colour C) approximately 53 inches. Use your yarn needle to join the two ends together, weaving in and out from top to bottom (photo B). You might have a different preference for seaming your ends together. Other options might be to join them using a SS or SC. Fasten off, weave in all ends and flip your neck warmer so that the bobbles are facing out.

Great job! Your Bobble Edge Neck Warmer is complete! I hope you enjoyed this pattern. Looking for more neck warmer ideas? Check out these other Sweet Bee Crochet patterns below. Happy Crocheting!
