Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– This plant cozy will fit a pot approximately 4-5 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall.
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– Beginning CH 1 or 2 of each round does not count as a stitch throughout except for round 16
– Special stitch tutorials are included within the pattern
– This pattern was originally published using Caron x Pantone yarn but the yarn has since been discontinued. If you have one hank of Caron x Pantone, it still works beautifully for the pattern (see photo below):

SC – Single Crochet
SC/PCT – Single Crochet with Picot Stitch
HBHDC – Herringbone Half Double Crochet

Bobble Stitch (BO) – YO, insert hook into stitch. YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through first 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook). *YO, insert hook into same stitch. YO, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook). Repeat from * until 5 loops on hook. YO, pull through all loops on hook. Do not CH to close, instead move to the next stitch and place 1 SC. For bobble rounds, this will look like: 1 BO, 1 SC, 1 BO, 1 SC etc.

Single Crochet Picot Stitch –Complete 1 SC and then CH 3. SS into the third CH from the hook. SC/PCT stitch complete.

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, begin with a magic circle OR CH 3 and SS into the third CH to form a loop and CH 2.

Round 1:
Into your circle, place 10 DC. SS into the top of your beginning DC.

(10 DC stitches)

Round 2:
CH 2. Into the first stitch and each stitch around, place 2 DC. SS into the top of your beginning DC.

(20 DC stitches)

Round 3:
CH 2. Into the first stitch and each stitch around, place 2 DC. SS into the top of the beginning DC. Fasten off.

(40 DC stitches)

Round 4:
Turn your work over so that the wrong side (back) of the base is now facing you. Join yarn colour B into any DC stitch and CH 1.

Into the same stitch, place 1 SC. *Make 1 BO in the next stitch, followed by 1 SC in the following stitch*. Repeat from * to * 18 more times. Place 1 BO in the last stitch. SS into the beginning SC, CH 1 and turn your work (similar to how you would turn your project if you were working in rows).

(20 SC stitches, 20 BO stitches = 40 stitches)

Rounds 5-6:
Into the first stitch and each stitch around, place 1 HBHDC. SS into the top of the beginning HBHDC. Fasten off after round 6.
