Here we are at December 1st. For many people, it marks the beginning of the holiday season. That magical feeling starts to fill the air and if you celebrate Christmas or have people in your life that do, the decorating often starts around this time. I know it’s busy so to help you out, I’ve put together a Christmas Décor Round Up to offer some creative ideas to help you deck the halls in your home. All these patterns and photos have been shared with permission and take one skein or one hour to make.

Vintage Noel Ornament by Sweet Bee Crochet

This ornament is inspired by the classic designs that I remember seeing as a child. It uses the traditional Christmas colours but they could be switched up for a more modern appearance if that is your style. It is made with cotton yarn but can be worked up with a worsted weight acrylic yarn very easily. It takes only 30 minutes to create so it’s a great little project to work on when you have an extra few minutes. The tassel adds a fun and simple accent (a tutorial for that is also included in the pattern) and the stuffing inside the ornament offers some nice dimension for displaying on your tree. The little picot stitches around the edging provide a simple pop as well. These ornaments are wonderful options for your own decorating or to gift to someone else. Easy Christmas Baubles by Loops and Love Crochet

We all know and love the traditional classic store bought baubles but have you considered making your own? The title of this next pattern perfectly describes how simple and quick it is to design your own. Easy Christmas Baubles by Loops and Love Crochet is worked up using single crochet and offers lots of opportunity for personalization. Alternate colours each round for thin stripes or stick with the same colour a few times around for thicker stripes. Use solid colours, variegated yarn or as mentioned in the blog post, sparkle yarn for a touch of Christmas magic. These baubles would be a great project for any skill level and would look especially beautiful hanging from any Christmas tree. Not to mention, they are safe for your little ones to handle and help hang up. Crochet Mitten Garland by Crochet To Play

Crochet To Play has some really lovely inspiration behind this Crochet Mitten Garland pattern. Designed with her children in mind, it was created to help them understand the meaning of advent and the countdown to Christmas. It’s an adorable pattern that has endless options on ways you could use them in your own family traditions. Use the mittens to hold letters to Santa, tuck in a small present or gift card, or perhaps use them as a cute accessory at your dinner table to hold napkins or cutlery. Jennifer also offers the ideas of using them as ornaments or gift toppers which is a great way to add a handmade touch to your gift giving over the holidays. Keep them Christmas themed with traditional colours use some nice blues and whites for a winter theme and keep them up into the new year. For the mittens, you’ll need a 3.5mm hook and worsted weight cotton yarn but to turn them into garland, you’ll need a few more small items which is covered in the pattern details. Each mitten takes about 10 minutes to create so they are a great project to fit in any time of the day. Vintage Christmas Tree by CB’s Creations

There’s something special about simplicity. With handmade items especially, it allows the work and fine details to really shine through. This Vintage Christmas Tree pattern by CB’s Creations offers a traditional throwback to Christmas with the options to decorate how you like. The finished trees in the photos are beautifully displayed with a dainty draping of lace ribbon and pearl craft beads. The possibilities are endless for how you could personalize this pattern for your own use. The added touch comes from the base of the tree which uses natural wood pieces to finish off and bring the pattern together. Little Christmas Mouse by Lucy Ravenscar

18 small rounds is all it takes to create this this adorable Little Christmas Mouse by LucyRavenscar. How magical and fun to spot this festive creature nestled in your tree or peering out of the stockings hanging up in your home. You won’t need much to prepare for this pattern: a small amount of worsted weight yarn, a bit of embroidery thread, some cotton yarn, a wee bit of polyfil stuffing and of course, your 3.5mm hook. Hang this cutie on the tree or even from a gift bag. I have a big Christmas wreath on my front door and I think this little mouse would look adorable tucked inside of it, ready to greet my holiday guests. Santa Face Applique by Littlejohns Yarn

I ho-ho-hope you’re ready for this adorable Santa face applique from Little Johns Yarn. It’s a quick make so you’ll have plenty of time to make more than one. You’ll need Red Heart Super Saver yarn and Bernat Pipsqueak yarn which really brings the pattern to a fun level with the fluffy beard and hat accents. Because it is listed as an applique, there are many ways to use this pattern: tree ornament, attached to a gift, put a pin on the back to wear with your favourite Christmas sweater, attach to a headband, blanket, pillow, you name it! Peppermint Christmas Ornaments by Rachy Newin

I don’t think there is a Christmas sweet that is traditionally more festive than the sight and smell of peppermint. Rachy has perfectly wrapped up the fun of Christmas into this quick and adorable ornament. The pattern is beautifully written, very simple and easy to follow. The suggested yarn is Red Heart Supersaver with a 4mm hook. It takes less than hour to make, using only a small amount of yarn. In the description, Rachy also mentioned that the size is adjustable simply by adding an extra round which is always a great option. An assortment of sizes in this pattern and colours would look so cute and fun hung around the house. Of course, they would also be a great present for someone else; wrap them up with some tissue paper and ribbon for a holiday gift filled with sweet handmade goodness. Christmas Tree Garland by Hooked on Patterns

Ling over at Hooked on Patterns has you all set up to create the most adorable and perfect holiday garland. These little trees are so cute and have a wide range of uses so they can be easily incorporated into many different aspects of your celebrations. Use these trees as garland, gift tags or even an applique. Decorate them with buttons, sparkles, beads, ribbon…whatever your holiday heart desires! In the photos, the trees are strung with beige yarn to give a rustic appeal which is really quite lovely. Imagine this sweet garland hanging over your doorway, greeting your guests as they join you in your festivities. Handmade décor is really beautiful and always a great conversation piece. Not to mention the personal touch that gets added in will not go unnoticed. This pattern is so maker friendly that gauge is not important. Yes, you read that correctly!
