Crochet Dice Bag – Free Crochet Pattern

70Shares

A crochet dice bag was a project that I had been wanting to make for a while. I finally sat down recently to write one up using a fun stitch with options for colour changes. We play a lot of games at our house and have accumulated quite a collection of dice, so this was definitely a useful project.

Of course, this design isn’t just for keeping your dice safe. You can also use this pouch to store other small accessories or notions. Interested in making your own? Find the free pattern below…

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– Finished bag measures approx. 7 inches tall and 6 inches wide when lying flat
– Beginning CH does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern except for round 18
– The pattern can be made with one colour or with colour changes. Please see the photo at the end of the pattern for instructions on where I changed colours using three shades
– In order for the lemon peel stitch to work in the round, we need to alternate the stitch used to begin each round. It’s important to always start the round in the opposite stitch (SC will be placed into a DC, DC will be placed into a SC). This is especially important to remember if you are changing colours
– Special stitch tutorial is included within the pattern

Materials Needed:
– Approximately 82 yards of worsted weight yarn. I used Dishie Cotton in three colours but you might choose to use only one shade (Buy the yarn for this pattern here)
– 4mm hook (this hook is one of my favourites!)
– Yarn needle
– Scissors

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorial:
Lemon Peel Stitch – The lemon peel stitch traditionally begins with an odd number of chains and is made by alternating SC and DC stitches. When working in rounds, we need to alternate the starting stitch. Please refer to the notes within the pattern on which stitch to start with.
