Introducing the Sweet Suzy Hand Towel. You might recognize the design from the companion piece, the Sweet Suzy Washcloth that was published back in January 2021. I am so thankful to have received such positive feedback and project sharing with that pattern. It makes me so happy to know that people have enjoyed it!
Today, I’m releasing the complimenting pattern which together, will make beautiful wash cloth and hand towel set. Perfect for yourself, gift giving or market prep!

Notes:
– This design is a companion piece to the Sweet Suzy Washcloth

– Special stitch tutorials are included within the pattern. For more detailed instructions with photos, please follow the link provided.
– Edging is optional. Instructions for fastening off when appropriate will be explained after completing row 70.
Materials Needed:
– Approximately 220-221 yards of Bernat Handicafter
– 5mm hook (I used my Furls Streamline Ebony)
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
Stitches:
CH – Chain
SK – Skip next stitch
SS – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
BLSC – Back Loop Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
Special Stitch Tutorial
Suzette Stitch: One single crochet and double crochet are placed into the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Repeat. After the last skipped stitch of the row, place 1 SC.
Detailed walkthrough: Click here for the suzette stitch tutorial.
Back Loop Single Crochet (BLSC): Instead of working your stitch into both loops, crochet into only the back loop. This is the loop that is furthest away from you.
Pattern:
Begin by chaining 36.
Row 1:
Into the second CH from your hook and each stitch across, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.
(35 SC stitches)
Rows 2-5:
Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch.
*Into the next stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch.*
Repeat from * to * 15 more times. Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn.
(18 SC stitches, 17 DC stitches = 35 stitches)
Rows 6-9:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, place 1 BLSC. CH 1 and turn.
(35 BLSC stitches)
Repeat rows 2-9, 7 more times, ending on row 65. Do not fasten off.
Rows 66-69:
Repeat rows 2-5
Row 70:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, place 1 SC.
(35 SC stitches)
If you would like to add edging please continue on. If you do not want to add edging, fasten off and weave in ends.
Edging: Working into the same space as the last SC from row 70, place two more SC stitches. This will create a corner curve around to the next edge. Evenly place 1 SC around all edges working 3 SC stitches into each corner stitch space. Once you have returned to the beginning of your edging, SS into the 2nd SC of your first corner. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
A very big shout out to all my testers: Aspen, Cheryl, Breanne, Stephanie, Audrey and Michelle. You can see their beautiful versions below!

Where can you buy this yarn
Hi Lillian! I’m in Canada and can find Bernat Handicrafter at most major retailers that sell craft and yarn supplies. Walmart, Michaels, Yarn Canada etc. You can also buy it from Amazon and directly from the Yarnspirations website.
