How sweet is this Tiny Cute Crochet Pumpkin? They take no time at all (only about 20 minutes) and work up so simply using a simple single crochet stitch. I love them so much think they’re the sweetest! Hang them from bunting, add them as a cute item to your fall market table or display them around your house as a fun conversation starter.

This project in these photos uses Dishie cotton yarn from WeCrochet. It’s incredibly soft and comes in some amazing shades! You can read my review here: Dishie Yarn Review. Haven’t ordered from WeCrochet before? I have a review for that too: My Experience Ordering From WeCrochet.

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– This tiny pumpkin measures approximately 1 ½ inches tall (with stem)
– Turning CH 1 does not count as a stitch
– The vine is an optional addition to your pumpkin. It can be a tricky step that will need a little extra patience as the slip stitches can be difficult to place within the chain
– Helpful photos that are referenced throughout the pattern can be found at the end of the pattern
– The pattern is written focusing on the individual pieces first followed by instructions for seaming and assembly
– Due to the small size of the finished project, please keep your little pumpkins out of the reach of young children and pets
Materials Needed:
– Worsted weight cotton or acrylic yarn. I used WeCrochet Dishie in three colours with the following approximate yardage: “Clementine” (colour A, 6 yards), “Sunbaked” (colour B, 1 yard) and “Jalepeno” (colour C, 1 yard)
– 3mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– A small amount of poly-fil stuffing
Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
BLSC – Back Loop Single Crochet
Pattern:
Pumpkin
With yarn colour A, CH 9.
Row 1:
Into the back loop of the 2nd CH from your hook and each CH across the row, place 1 BLSC. CH 1 and turn.
(8 BLSC stitches)
Rows 2-13:
Into the back loops of the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 BLSC. CH 1 and turn.
(8 BLSC stitches)
Row 14:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 BLSC. Do not CH 1 and turn. You should have a rectangle that measures approximately 1 ½ inches x 3 inches. Leaving a long tail (about 18 inches long), fasten off [image 1].
(8 BLSC stitches)
Stem
With yarn colour B, leave a long beginning tail. CH 5 and begin row 1 in the second CH from your hook.
Row 1:Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SS. Fasten off leaving a long tail.
(4 SS)
Vine
With yarn colour C, leave a long beginning tail. CH 17 and begin row 1 in the second CH from your hook.
Row 1:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 2 SS. Fasten off leaving a long tail.
(32 SS)
Seaming Your Pumpkin
Fold your rectangle to line up the two short edges [Image 2]. Using your preferred method, stitch those two short edges together with your yarn needle. You should now have a cylinder shape. Continuing seaming by weaving your yarn needle in and out of the edge of the open end closest to your yarn tail [image 3]. Pull to cinch and close but do not fasten off [image 4].
Push your yarn needle from the centre you just cinched closed, up through the top to the open end and add your stuffing [image 5]. Seam the top closed by weaving your yarn tail in and out of the edges of the open end. Pull to cinch and close [image 6]. As you tighten this end, your project will pucker slightly giving it that classic pumpkin shape. Secure your yarn and pull the tail back through the top, down to the bottom centre to hide it. Trim any excess yarn.
Attaching Pieces
With your yarn needle, sew the stem into one cinched end of the pumpkin with your preferred stitch. It’s a very small piece and won’t take much to attach it. Secure your yarn by pulling the excess tails through the pumpkin and trimming to hide [image 7]. Repeat the same process above to attach your vine at the base of the stem [image 8].
