Another Granny Square Day (August 15th) has come and gone, leaving behind a beautiful sense of creative connection and inspiration. I thought it would be a fun to make a post sharing the squares I made to celebrate this crafty day…

My focus this year when making granny squares was the changing of seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. I live in Canada and in a province where we experience all levels of each season so my inspiration draws from things like temperatures, colours and overall vibes of the months.
Spring:
New growth, refreshing pastels, light and airy colours, and the return of warmer weather. I used WeCrochet Dishie to make this granny square that represents the transition into spring. It’s such a lovely season and, for me, marks the time that deck days and gardening are just around the corner!
Summer:
I used WeCrochet Brava worsted in some bright and vibrant shades to represent the summer season. These colours make me think of popsicles, beach balls, amusement parks and ice cream! Bright and sunny, filled with pops of colour, summer is a time of happiness and making memories.
Autumn:
This square is inspired by the deep, rich tones of autumn. Cool and crisp air, crunching leaves, sunflowers, and changing colours. It’s my favourite season! I used WeCrochet Dishie to make this cozy square.
Winter:
Made with WeCrochet Brava, this square is made with all the winter vibes. Brisk winds, crunching ice, sparkling snow, icicles, and cold temperatures. I actually don’t mind the winter. I find a snowy hike to be so beautiful and relaxing.
Traditional granny squares are so simple but I see them as a classic design that can be adapted in many different ways. They’re definitely one of my favourite things to make! Check out the Instagram reel I made with these cute squares (tap to start):
