Here in Canada, we are finishing up our Thanksgiving long weekend which means one thing…Halloween is just around corner. I have put together a round up of fun Halloween crochet patterns to help get you into the spooky spirit. Keeping with the theme of Sweet Bee Crochet, all of these patterns take approximately one hour (or less) to create which makes them portable and perfect to keep in your bag to work on whenever you have a few minutes to spare. Did I mention they are all free? Go grab your hook and yarn, let’s dive in!

Crochet Amigurumi Spider by Krazy Kabbage

Crochet Amigurumi Spider Pattern from Kat at Krazy Kabbage
Yarn used: Red Heart Super Saver but any worsted weight yarn would work
Time to complete: Approximately 30 minutes

Do spiders give you the creepy crawlies? Have no fear, this spider pattern from Kat at Krazy Kabbage only gives off cute vibes. It is a quick pattern that is worked as one piece so there is no sewing involved. The pattern is in a written format, it’s easy to follow and understand and also comes with a video tutorial if you’re more of a visual learner. You can make your spider in a usual black appearance or add some pop with other colours. Kat mentions it makes for great decoration with ideas to add some thread to have the spider hanging down or even as a unique applique on clothing or a hat. As a side note, included in the pattern post on the blog, Kat has generously also shared a link to a free beanie hat which you can attach your spider to. There are lots of ways to show off your Crochet Amigurumi Spider. You can check out this fantastic pattern over at: Krazy Kabbage

Spooky Minis from Erin at Auburn Elephant
Yarn used: 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver is suggested)
Time to complete: Approximately 30 minutes

Spooky Minis by Auburn Elephant

Erin from Auburn Elephant has designed an absolutely delightful set of Halloween characters titled “Spooky Minis” that would add some fun flair to your Halloween decorating. They’re small projects and when completed would make a perfect little spooky display on your shelf at home or maybe in the staff room at work. They would make great little gifts to give out to a classroom instead of candy or perhaps a door prize for a Halloween party. The designs are simple and Erin mentions that each Spooky Mini uses less than 25 yards of yarn so you’ll have plenty left over to make some more. There is a pattern for each individual character along with the required materials needed to create each one. Choose from a pumpkin, ghost, Frankenstein’s monster or a mummy. Better yet, make all of them for spook-tacular display of Halloween spirit. They are great free patterns and I have no doubt that you’ll love working on them. They can be found here: Auburn Elephant

Crochet Pumpkin Pattern from Ling at Hooked on Patterns
Yarn used: Chunky/Bulky weight yarn
Time to complete: Approximately one hour

Crochet Pumpkin Pot by Ling Ryan

This pumpkin pattern would certainly add some fun and magic to any space. Perfect for home to hold a few little chocolates, as a centerpiece or table décor, or perhaps even on your desk at the office. Who wouldn’t want some candies to have with a coffee during an afternoon break? It would also make for an adorable thank you gift for the host of a Halloween party. This pattern uses two colours and works up in continuous rounds which allows it to build up quickly and simply. It is a written pattern which makes it easy to follow and it is also flexible with the gauge. While chunky/bulky yarn is used, Ling mentions that any yarn weight should work as long as your stitches remain consistent. What kind of treats would you stash away? Let us know if you make one and what goodies you will hide inside it! The free pattern for this fun and unique project can be found here: Hooked On Patterns

Candy Corn by Becca from BabyCakes Studios
Yarn used: 100% worsted weight acrylic yarn (Crafters Secret or I Love This Yarn)
Time to complete: 30 minutes for a small version or under 1 hour for a larger version

Candy Corn pattern by BabyCakes Studio

This cute little Candy Corn is simply the sweetest. It’s listed at a beginner skill level so you no matter where you are on your crochet journey, this pattern would make a great addition to your list of Halloween items to make. The pattern is written up with clear and organized instructions as well as helpful step by step photos. Using 100% acrylic yarn, the finished piece works up to be about 3-4 inches tall and can be completed in approximately 30 minutes. If you’re interested in making a version that is a little larger, Becca said the pattern also can be made using two strands of yarn. This method is still a quick make only taking under one hour to complete. What really completes this pattern however is the absolutely adorable face. It has all the cuteness and squish in the world and if you make this for someone else, I think it’s safe to say that you’ll quickly pull out more yarn to make one for yourself too. Sweet Treat Bow from Rebecca at Sweet Bee Crochet
Yarn used: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton
Time to complete: 25 minutes

Sweet Treat Bow by Sweet Bee Crochet

The colourways used in this pattern are reminiscent of the classic Halloween treat, candy corn.  It is the perfect accent piece for Halloween spirit days at school or work and can easily be attached to a hair elastic, hair band or hair clip. Sometimes in Canada, trick or treating takes place on a night that can be quite chilly (I remember going out as a child with a snowsuit underneath my costume). This bow could be used as an accent piece on a hat or scarf to help keep your kiddo (or you) cozy while collecting all those goodies on Halloween night. It is a simple pattern using only single crochet and slip stitch throughout which makes it a great project for a beginner. Not a fan of candy corn colours? Switch it up with orange and black to keep it Halloween themed. The pattern is available as a free download on Ravelry and can be found here: Sweet Bee Crochet
