Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– The finished pouch measures approximately 5 inches tall and 3 ½ inches wide
– I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton medium weight 4. I find this yarn to be a little thinner than a typical worsted weight and used a 3.5mm hook to accommodate the yarn thickness. Depending on your yarn choice, you might prefer to adjust your hook size
– Beginning CH 3 counts as 1 DC, CH 1 throughout
– Turning CH 1 of round 13 does not count as a stitch
– Extra photos can be found at the end of the pattern for optional printing

Materials Needed:
– Approximately 40 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton
– 3.5mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Pattern: (Make 2 rectangles)
CH 22 and begin row 1 in the 2nd CH from your hook.

Row 1:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, place 1 SC. Turn your work.

(21 SC stitches)

Row 2:
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC, CH 1) and SK 1 stitch. *Into the next stitch, place 1 DC, CH 1 and SK 1 stitch.* Repeat from * to * 8 more times. Place 1 DC into the last stitch and turn your work.

(10 CH 1, 11 DC = 21 stitches)

Row 3:
CH3 (counts as 1 DC, CH 1) and SK 1 stitch. *Into the next stitch, place 1 DC, CH 1 and SK 1 stitch.* Repeat from * to * 8 more times. Place 1 DC into the 2 CH of the beginning CH 3 from the previous row. Turn your work.

(10 CH 1, 11 DC = 21 stitches)

Rows 4-12:
Repeat row 3

Row 13:
Into the first stitch and each stitch and CH stitch across, place 1 SC (the last two stitches of the row are placed into the 3rd and 2nd CH of the previous row). Fasten off and weave in all ends.

(21 SC stitches)

Seaming and Tie:
(Photo A) Place your two panels together with the front of the SC rows facing out. Beginning at the top left corner, seam your panels together working through both rectangles. Continue along the bottom edge and back up to the top of the other side. I used a simple running stitch with my needle and thread. You might prefer to use a different sewing method or even SS or SC the edging instead. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Tip: (Photo B) When working into the sides of the stitches, there isn’t a specific spot like when you stitch into the top of a stitch. Find a natural space that lines up on both panels.

To make the tie, CH 100. Into the 2nd CH and each CH stitch across, place 1 SS. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

(99 SS)

Assembly:
(Photo C) Working into row 11 at the front and centre, weave your tie in and out of the posts alternating behind and in front. Even out the ties at the front so they are equal length. Pull to tighten and tie in a bow to close.
