The Rows of Happy Scarf uses five skeins of Furls Wander yarn. The colours used in this design were put together for one of their Wander Palettes and I fell in love with these particular shades. This is the “Whimsy” palette which contains the following colourways: Sunrise, Canary, Peninsula, Dragonfruit and Bergamot. A very big thank you to Furls for providing the yarn for this design.

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Gauge is 2×2 inches (4 rows of EXT/SC with each row containing 6 stitches)
– Finished scarf measures approximately 83 inches long and 7 ½ inches wide
– Turning CH 1 does not count as a stitch
– Special stitch tutorials are included within the pattern
– If you find the suzette stitch rows are pulling your project in slightly, loosening your tension in those rows should help to keep the edges even
– Please use your preferred method for changing colours
– A helpful colour chart can be found in the paid version (Etsy) (Ravelry)

Materials Needed:
– 5 colours of worsted weight yarn (approximately 74-75 yards each for colours A, C, D and E. Approximately 67-68 yards for colour B). I used of Furls Wander yarn in “Whimsy” colour palette that contained 5 skeins: : Sunrise (Colour A), Bergamot (Colour B), Canary (Colour C), Peninsula (Colour D) and Dragonfruit (Colour E) (Get the yarn for this pattern here)
– The yardage required for each colour is: Approximately 74-75 yards for colours A, C, D and E. Approximately 67-68 yards for colour B.
– 5mm hook (I used my Furls Streamline Ebony)
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC- Single Crochet
EXT/SC – Extended Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorials:
Extended Single Crochet (EXT/SC) – Insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and pull back through the stitch (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull your hook down through the top loop on your hook (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull down through two loops on hook. Extended single crochet stitch complete. Suzette Stitch – One single crochet and double crochet are placed into the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Repeat. After the last skipped stitch of the row, place 1 SC.

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, CH 24. You will begin working in the second CH from your hook.

Rows 1-20:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across, make 1 EXT/SC. CH 1 and turn. After completing row 20, do not CH 1. Instead, fasten off.

(23 EXT/SC stitches)

Rows 21-25:
Join yarn colour B. Into the first stitch place 1 SC and 1 DC. Skip the next stitch. Repeat this sequence (SC/DC, skip next stitch) across the row until there are two stitches remaining. Skip the second last stitch and place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn. After completing row 25, do not CH 1. Instead fasten off.

(12 SC, 11 DC = 23 stitches)

Rows 26-45:
Join yarn colour C. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows 46-50:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows 51-70:
Join yarn colour D. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows: 71-75:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows 76-95:
Join yarn colour E. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows 96-100:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows 101-120:
Join yarn colour A. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows 121-125:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows 126-145:
Join yarn colour C. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows 146-150:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows 151-170:
Join yarn colour D. Repeat rows 1-20

Rows 171-175:
Join yarn colour B. Repeat rows 21-25

Rows: 176-195:
Join yarn colour E. Repeat rows 1-20. After completing row 195, fasten off and weave in all ends.

Each EXT/SC section should contain 20 rows. Each suzette stitch section should contain 5 rows.
