Today we are making another practical project, one that works for a variety of occasions. These dish scrubbers are made using worsted weight cotton yarn and worsted weight scrubby yarn. Add them to your market table, or pair them with some cute dishcloths for a house-warming gift. Of course, you can make them for your own use in your favourite colours to match your kitchen.

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– Gauge is not important for this pattern
– Finished scrubber measures approx. 3 ½ inches in diameter
– Beginning CH 1 does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern
– Working with scrubby yarn can be a little tricky due to the texture. A helpful tip is to place a stitch marker into the first stitch of the scrubby round so it’s easy to find when you need to slip stitch into it at the end
– After round 4, it is natural for your edges to slightly curve up
Materials Needed:
– Approximately 5 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn “colour A” (regular, not scrubby textured)
– Approximately 5 yards of worsted weight scrubby yarn “colour B”
– 4.5mm hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape
Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
HDC – Half Double Crochet

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, begin with a magic circle OR CH 3 and SS into the first CH to form a loop.
Round 1:
CH 1 and into your loop, place 10 HDC. SS into the top of your beginning HDC and fasten off.
(10 HDC stitches)
Round 2:
With yarn colour B, join into any stitch with a SS, CH 1. Into this stitch and each stitch around, place 2 HDC. SS into the top of your beginning HDC and fasten off.
(20 HDC stitches)
Round 3:
(Instead of working into the top of the stitches, you will be working in between the posts of each stitch. Photo A)
With yarn colour A, begin in any space between stitches with a SS, CH 1. Into this space and each space between stitches around, place 2 HDC. SS into the top of your beginning HDC and fasten off.
(40 HDC stitches)

Round 4:
With yarn colour B, begin in any stitch with a SS, CH 1. Into this stitch and each stitch around, place 1 HDC. SS into the top of your beginning HDC and fasten off, weaving in all ends.
(40 HDC stitches)
