It uses less than one cake of Red Heart Roll With It “Tweed” and has a fun textured appearance. It’s a great project to take on the go and is a wonderful project for any skill level. It uses the bobble stitch and the herringbone double crochet stitch and tutorials for both are included within the pattern. I’ve got you covered! Let’s begin.

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (5 loops now on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. Do not chain to close the cluster, instead place 1 sc into the next stitch.

Pattern:
Begin by loosely chaining 80.

Row 1:
Into the second ch from your hook place 1 sc. Into the next stitch, create 1 bo. Continue this pattern (1 sc, 1 bo) across your row ending with 1 sc. (40 sc. 39 bo = 79 stitches) Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2:
Into each stitch across, create 1 hbdc. (79) Ch 1 turn.

Row 3-14:
Repeat row 2.

Row 15:
Into the first stitch, place 1 sc. Into the next stitch, create 1 bo. Continue this pattern (1 sc, 1 bo) across your row ending with 1 sc. (40 sc. 39 bo = 79 stitches)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing your two ends together.

To assemble your neck warmer:
Laid out flat, your neck warmer should measure approximately 31 inches long and 8 inches wide. With your bobbles facing you, line up your short edges and stitch them together with your long yarn tail using your preferred method. Fasten off and weave in all ends. Flip your neck warmer around so that the bobbles face out. If you do not want to include the modification for a gathered appearance, your neck warmer is now complete.

Modification for gathered appearance:
Continuing with the yarn cake, loosely chain 22.

Row 1:
Into the second ch from your hook, place 1 sc. Into the next stitch, create 1 bo. Continue this pattern (1 sc, 1 bo) across your row ending with 1 sc. (11 sc. 10 bo = 21 stitches) Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2-4:
Into each stitch across, place 1 hbdc. (21) Ch 1 and turn.

Row 5:
Into the first stitch, place 1 sc. Into the next stitch, create 1 bo. Continue this pattern (1 sc, 1 bo) across your row ending with 1 sc. (11 sc. 10 bo = 21 stitches)

Fasten off leaving about 15 inches for sewing ends (option A below)

(Option A)
If you would like to keep this modification on your neck warmer more permanent, wrap this piece with the bobbles facing out around your neck warmer. Stitch the two short ends together, fasten off and weave in all ends.

(Option B)
If you want to have the ability to remove this modification from your neck warmer, weave in all your ends. Lay your rectangle flat so the bobbles are facing up. Stitch in a button at one end and wrap this piece around your neck warmer. Slide your button between any stitch on the other of end of your rectangle to secure. Feel free to personalize this option with a larger decorative button or perhaps even a pin instead.
