V-Stitch Colour Block Wrap – Free Crochet Pattern

12Shares

Crochet wrap patterns are a nice medium sized project. Not too small but not as large as a blanket so they seem to work up a little faster. If you’re a beginner looking to expand out in some fun ways with the basic stitches, this pattern would be great for you! Simple striped rows combined with a fun V-Stitch middle creates a colourful and cozy wrap for you enjoy.

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– Gauge is 4×4 inches using HDC. 10 rows, each containing 13 stitches
– Finished wrap measures approximately 58 ½ inches long and 27 inches wide
– Turning CH 1 does not count as a stitch throughout the striped sections (rows 1-40)
– Turning CH 2 counts as 1 DC stitch throughout the middle section (rows 41-92)
– When made with worsted acrylic, this wrap is warm and cozy! If you would like a little bit more drape, you could try making this wrap with a DK weight yarn. Please note that this could adjust the finished size and yardage. Please change your hook size accordingly

Normally, you will find particular yardage amounts for my designs however for this project, I chose to simply note how many skeins you will need. This design is made using Brava worsted yarn, generously provided by WeCrochet in 4 colours.

At the time of writing this pattern, one skein of Brava worsted is 218 yards and 100 grams. Brava worsted yarn is a wonderfully vibrant and soft acyrlic yarn from WeCrochet. If you haven’t ordered from this company before, you can read about my experience here: Ordering From WeCrochet – Is It Worth It?

Row 42: (Remember that CH 2 counts as 1 DC stitch throughout this middle section. Please see stitch placement photo below)
*SK 1 stitch and place 2 DC (this is your V stitch) into the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * 40 more times. SK 1 stitch and place 1 DC into the last stitch. CH 2 and turn.

(CH 2 [beginning], 1 DC [end], 41 DC “V” stitches)

Row 43:
SK the first DC stitch and place a V stitch in the next space between DC stitches. *SK 2 DC stitches and place a V stitch in the next space between DC stitches.* Repeat from * to * 39 more times. SK 1 DC and place 1 DC into the second chain of your turning CH 2. CH 2 and turn.

(CH 2 [beginning], 1 DC [end], 41 DC “V” stitches)

Rows 44-92:
Repeat row 43 (After completing row 92, do not CH 2. Instead CH 1 and turn)

Row 93:
To bring the stitch count in this row back to 85, you will need to add one extra SC stitch. Simply place 2 SC into any stitch, one time. I added the extra SC at the end of the row but feel free to change the placement of where you add in your extra stitch.

Into each DC stitch across the row, place 1 SC, adding 1 extra SC into any one single stitch. When you reach the end, place the final SC into the second CH of the turning CH 2 stitch from the previous row. Fasten off.
