Cotton yarn is a fabulous fibre to crochet with. It’s washable, can be used in a variety of patterns and creates sturdy projects. I’ve compiled a round up of 12 crochet designs from wearables to home decor that are created with cotton. This versatile top designed by Kunbi Ayo-Okanlawon is created by crocheting two identical pieces and seaming them together. The ruffled sleeves add a gorgeous flair that would pair beautifully with jeans or a skirt.

Textured Back Loop Wash Cloth (paid pattern) – Sweet Bee Crochet

This simple washcloth design is designed by and and made using double crochet and back loop single crochet stitches. It works up quickly and is great for any skill level.

Easy Much Rug Coasters (free pattern) – Simply Hooked by Janet

You’ll need two colours to make these adorable mug rugs from Simply Hooked by Janet. The set contains 4 coasters that can be used for drinks or even to place underneath plant pots to protect the surface of your tables.

Beach Glass Throw (free pattern) – Rich Textures Crochet

Rich Textures Crochet has designed a gorgeous throw blanket using Bernat Handicrafter. Included in the pattern is a video tutorial along with a link to a complimenting pillow design.

Tapestry Crochet Backpack (free pattern) – Blue Star Crochet

Inspired by personal connection, Veronika from Blue Star Crochet created a backpack that incorporates the linden tree into the design. Included in the pattern is a video tutorial on how to change colours in tapestry crochet.

Dockside Bag (free pattern) – Through The Loop Yarn Craft

This fun bag from Through The Loop Yarn Craft, is worked from the bottom up beginning with rows before switching to rounds. There’s lots of space inside and would look lovely with colour combos or in a solid shade.

Nana’s Kitchen Pot Holder (free pattern) – Raffamusa Designs

This tapestry design was originally featured in Happily Hooked Magazine and is now available for free on the Raffamusa Designs blog. It’s part of the Farmhouse Collection which can be found in the pattern post.

Sea Shells Beach Bag (paid pattern) – Hooked On Patterns

Inspired by the beach scenery, this creative bag comes from Ling over at Hooked On Patterns. It has plenty of room to carry your beach day supplies or to carry your daily items as your run errands.

Mermaid Tears Tee (paid pattern) – Katie Clary

This lacy top designed by Katie Clary is breezy and light to wear. The pattern is described as being flattering that doesn’t require shaping and has minimal seaming. It would be lovely for a summer day!

Diamonds Doily (free pattern) – Made By Gootie

This doily design from Made By Gootie uses a 3mm hook and is recommended for beginners all the way to the experienced crocheter.

Blythe Bag (free pattern) – Hooked Hazel

You’ll need worsted weight cotton yarn and cotton cord for this design from Hooked Hazel. Crocheting around the cotton cord, this bag works up with a stunning and eye catching design and texture.

Crochet Face Scrubbies and Mesh Bag (free pattern) – Zamiguz

This simple and beautiful set from Zamiguz requires a 4mm and your favourite worsted weight cotton yarn. Included in the link are two patterns, one for the face scrubbies and one for a mesh bag to store them in.
