
I’m excited to share my first crochet mandala pattern with you! I was inspired to write this particular design when I was sitting down with my morning coffee. I had a few quiet moments and really wanted to spend a bit of time crocheting before the routine of my busy day started. Mandalas are such lovely and relaxing projects that it really seemed like the perfect morning project. It takes about 30 minutes to make so you can enjoy a hot coffee or tea while crocheting a beautiful and simple piece. I hope you enjoy the Morning Mini Mandala and that it provides a thoughtful and relaxing start to your day. Let’s begin:

Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms
– Cluster refers to the set of dc stitches placed around each ch space (when applicable)
Materials Needed:
– Up to 7 colours of DK weight yarn (I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter). It also looks lovely in one solid colour.
– 3.5mm hook
– Yarn scissors
– Yarn needle
Stitches:
ss – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet

Pattern:
With your first colour, begin by making a magic circle OR ch 3 and slip stitch into your beginning ch to form a loop.
Round 1:
Ch 3 (will represent 1 dc, ch 1)
Into your circle, create 1 dc followed by ch 1 (7 times)
Ss into the 2nd ch of your beginning ch 3.
Fasten off.
[8 dc, 8 ch 1 spaces]
Round 2:
With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
In this space and each ch space around, create 1 sc followed by ch 2.
Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[8 sc, 8 ch 2 spaces]

Round 3:
With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 2 (will represent dc)
Into the same as your ch 2, create 2 dc followed by ch 1.
Into each ch space around, make 3 dc followed by ch 1.
Ss into the top of your beginning ch 2.
Fasten off.
[8 dc clusters, 8 ch 1 spaces]
Round 4:
With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
Into this space, each ch space and between each dc, create 1 sc followed by ch 1.
Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[24 sc, 24 ch 1 spaces]

Round 5:
With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
Into this space and each ch space around, make 1 sc followed by ch 4.
Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[24 sc, 24 ch 4 spaces]
Round 6:
With your next colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
Into this space and each ch space around, make 1 sc followed by ch 3.
Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[24 sc, 24 ch 3 spaces]

Round 7:
With your final colour, begin in any ch space by joining with a ss. Ch 1.
Into this space and each ch space around, make 1 sc followed by ch 5.
Ss into the top of your beginning sc.
Fasten off.
[24 sc, 24 ch 5 spaces]

And that’s it! 7 rounds using the basic stitches to create this simple and beautiful mini mandala. If you’d like, you could also consider framing it inside an embroidery hoop. They also look lovely in a simple frame to place on a shelf or hang on a wall.
