Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– Gauge is rows 1-7 = 2 inches x 8 1/2 inches
– Finished dishcloth measures 8 1/2 × 8 1/2 inches (without edging)
– Turning CH 1 does not count as a stitch
– The finished dishcloth has nice and tidy edges and doesn’t necessarily require a border. If you would like to add one, instructions are included within the pattern
– This pattern works well with a solid shade or striped/variegated yarn
– If you would like to make a smaller or larger dishcloth, CH any number of even stitches. Please note that adjusting the size will change the yardage amount required

Materials Needed:
–  Approximately 97 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn. I used WeCrochet Dishie Multi in the “Herb Garden” colourway Read my review of Dishie yarn here.
– 4mm hook (I used the hook from my cute Dots set)
– Yarn needle (bent tip needles are always helpful)
– Scissors (my favourite!)
– Measuring tape (this one is handy)

Stitches:
SK – Skip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorial:
Suzette Stitch: One single crochet and double crochet are placed into the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Repeat. After the last skipped stitch of the row, place 1 SC.
Detailed Tutorial: Click here

Pattern:
CH 36 and begin row 1 in the second CH from your hook.

Row 1:
Into the first stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch. *Into the next stitch, place 1 SC and 1 DC. SK the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * 15 more times.
Place 1 SC into the last stitch. CH 1 and turn.

(18 SC stitches, 17 DC stitches = 35 stitches)

Rows 2- 30:
Repeat row 1. After completing row 30, fasten off and weave in ends.

If you would like to add a border, please continue reading below, otherwise, your dishcloth is complete!

Border:
(I find fastening off and re-joining the yarn in the middle of an edge provides a neater finish for the border)

Join yarn into the middle of any edge with a SS and CH 1. Evenly place 1 SC around all edges and make 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into each corner space. SS into the beginning SC, fasten off and weave in all ends.
