Dishie cotton yarn has been a fairly recent discovery for me. A crochet friend uses it regularly and recommended it to me knowing I enjoy working with cotton yarn. I am so thankful she told me about it because I fell in love! I suppose that’s a pretty obvious giveaway as to what direction this yarn review is going!
If you haven’t worked with WeCrochet Dishie yarn yet, allow me to introduce you to it and share all the reasons why it’s been permanently added into my yarn stash. Read all about it below…

Let me begin by saying that I was not asked to write this review. I purchased this yarn based on a recommendation and I’m sharing my personal experience purchasing and working with this yarn. Although I am an affiliate with WeCrochet/KnitPicks, I only share and link to products I have personally used and enjoy using.
Fibre Content:
Dishie Worsted Weight (medium 4) is 100% cotton.
Yarn Information:
Dishie Worsted Weight cotton is a product of WeCrochet/Knit Picks. WeCrochet was launched in 2019 and is a sister brand of Knit Picks that focuses on crochet related products. This review is for the 190 yards/100 gram skein of Dishie (solid shades).
The recommended hook size for Dishie yarn is l-k (5mm-6.5mm). I have been using my 5mm hook with this yarn with really nice results but please follow what is suggested within the pattern you’re using. If you’re knitting, needle size #7-8 is recommended.
I counted 30 different colours of Dishie yarn in the 100g skeins. That’s a lot of choices and fun colour combinations! I have recently purchased the following colourways: Conch, Blush, Lilac Mist, Mint, Honeydew and Creme Brulee.
Washing Instructions:
Dishie yarn is machine washable in cold water and and be placed into the dryer on a low, tumble dry setting. As with all cotton yarn, it’s important to be mindful that this fibre can (and mostly likely will) shrink during the first wash/dry cycle. I haven’t experienced any issues with colours running or coming out during use after an initial wash but it’s always a good idea to wash with similar colours or own their own for the first time.
Other Label Details:
The labels are minimal but contain all the important information you need. You’ll find the Dishie line, the weight and yardage/grams clearly printed on the front. On the side, the dye lot is clear and visible with the name of the colourway, sku number and barcode just underneath. We can also see that Dishie yarn is made in India.
Knitting needle and crochet hook information is also listed with the recommended sizes and gauge so that you can work up a little swatch.
Washing instructions, fibre content and yarn weight are also laid out simply. The Knit Picks and WeCrochet logos are both on the label along with the website for each letting you know that you can purchase Dishie from either of those platforms. There is also a customer service phone number which is nice and not something that you see often on yarn labels.
What Can I Make With It?
Cotton yarn is great for many different projects and is a fairly versatile fibre to crochet with. It’s durable which makes it perfect for heavily used items like washcloths, dish towels, coasters. Cotton yarn doesn’t usually have the stretch the acrylic yarn does so it’s also a great option for things like market bags and pouches. You could also make a lightweight blanket for warmer months, wearables like sweaters and cardigans or shawls, scarves and wraps.
Where Can I Buy It?
Because Dishie is a WeCrochet/Knit Picks brand, I have only been able to find it directly though the WeCrochet and Knit Picks websites. I live in Canada so it does ship directly from the U.S as that’s where WeCrochet/Knit Picks is located. I have only had wonderful experiences ordering from them and the shipping time is extremely reasonable and fast. You can check out my review here: Ordering From WeCrochet (Is It Worth It?)
Dishie yarn is priced at $3.49 (USD) for 100g skein and $13.99 (USD) for the 400g cone. Dishie Multi is also available (although I haven’t used it) and has a pretty selection of multi-coloured skeins.
So, How Does It Work Up?
I mentioned at the beginning of my post that Dishie yarn has become a permanent addition to my yarn stash, and with good reason! I was absolutely blown away with how GORGEOUS it is. The individual threads are wound so beautifully together that it creates a really pretty twisted appearance that works into amazing textured stitches. Not to mention, the stitch definition is so pretty. I’ve started using it in my stitch tutorials! Check out the photo from my Iris Stitch tutorial:
I’m using Dishie for an upcoming washcloth pattern and I did not run into any knots, pilling or fraying and it was smooth sailing through each skein I used. That makes me very happy because that means more crochet time and less sorting out finnicky yarn.
Dishie yarn has been a fabulous and welcome discovery and I’m so happy that my friend suggested it. Now the only problem is making room on my yarn shelf to add more skeins! If you haven’t worked with Dishie yarn, definitely give it a try. I think you’ll enjoy it!
