Special Stitch Tutorial:
Back Loop Single Crochet (BLSC): Work your single crochet into the back loop of the stitch. Looking down at the traditional “V” shape of the stitch, it is the loop furthest from you.

Bobble Stitch: Yarn over and insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops on hook (2 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (4 loops now on hook). Yarn over and insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook (5 loops now on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. Do not chain to close the cluster, instead place 1 SC into the next stitch. Pattern:
CH 32

Row 1:
Into the second CH from your hook, and each stitch across, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(31 SC stitches)

Row 2: (remember that the conclusion of the bobble stitch includes 1 SC placed into the next stitch directly after the bobble portion)
Into each of the first three stitches, place 1 SC. Into the fourth stitch, place 1 BO. *Place 1 SC into each of the next three stitches. Into the next stitch, place 1 BO.* Repeat from * to * 5 more times. Into each of the last three stitches, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(24 SC stitches, 7 BO stitches = 31 stitches)

Row 3:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(31 SC stitches)

Row 4:
Into the first stitch, make 1 SC. Into the second stitch, make 1 BO. *Into each of the next 3 stitches, place 1 SC. Into the next stitch, place 1 BO.* Repeat from * to * six more times. Into the last stitch, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(23 SC stitches, 8 B0 stitches = 31 stitches)

Row 5:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(31 SC stitches)

Row 6:
Into each of the first three stitches, place 1 SC. Into the fourth stitch, place 1 BO. *Place 1 SC into each of the next three stitches. Into the next stitch, place 1 BO.* Repeat from * to * 5 more times. Into each of the last three stitches, place 1 SC. CH 1 and turn.

(24 SC stitches, 7 BO stitches = 31 stitches)

Rows 7-11:
Into the first stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 BLSC. CH 1 and turn.

(31 BLSC stitches)

Repeat Rows 2-11:
9 more times.

After the 9th repetition, there should be 101 rows (ending with a BLSC row). Fasten off but leave a long tail for seaming.

Seaming:
Lay your neck warmer flat with the bobbles facing down. Bring your two ends together and seam using your yarn tail. I like to use the invisible seam to stitch together but please use whatever method you prefer. Once complete, flip your neck warmer so the bobbles are facing outward.

Edging:
I prefer to add a simple SC edging to even out the project but if you don’t want to add one, that’s okay!

At the seam, join yarn with a SS, CH 1. Evenly place 1 SC around and SS into the beginning SC. Fasten off and repeat on the bottom edge. Weave in all ends.

Great job! Your neck warmer is complete. For more fun and creative designs, be sure to check out the Free Pattern section of my blog. Ad free, printer friendly versions can be found in my Etsy and Ravelry shops. Happy Crocheting!

  4. I just finished making your bobble crochet neck warmer, such a nice, relaxing pattern. I could easily crochet and watch videos. I used the same gorgeous yarn as you did. Now, the only problem is, all my friends want me to make them one.
