Notes:
– This pattern is written in US terms (find a stitch conversion chart here)
– Gauge is 4×4 inches, 7 rows with 15 stitches in each using EXT/HDC
– Finished scarf measures approximately 63 inches long and 8 inches wide
– Turning CH 1 does not count as a stitch throughout
– Special stitch tutorial is included within the pattern
– Please turn your work after completing each row. Alternate colour will be joined into the first stitch of the next row after turning
– This pattern would work well with any worsted weight yarn. To achieve a rustic vibe, tweed yarn is highly recommended

Materials Needed:

–  Worsted weight yarn in two colours. I used Brava Tweed in “Goldenrod” and “Mink” which will be referred to as colour A (approx. 276-277 yards required) and colour B (approx. 152-153 yards required)
– 5mm hook (I used my Radiant hook from WeCrochet)
– Yarn needle (This set is great!)
– Scissors (These are perfect for stashing in your accessory bag!)
– Measuring tape (A retractable measuring tape is always handy!)

Stitches:
CH – Chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
EXT/HDC – Extended Half Double Crochet

Special Stitch Tutorial:
Extended Half Double Crochet – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull down through one loop on hook (3 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull down through all loops on hook.

Pattern:
With yarn colour A, CH 27.

Rows 1-10:
Into the 2^nd CH from your hook and each stitch across, place 1 EXT/HDC. CH 1 and turn for rows 1-9. After completing row 10, do not CH 1. Fasten off and turn.

(26 EXT/HDC stitches)

Row 11:
Attach yarn colour B into the first stitch of the row with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn.

(26 SC stitches)

Rows 12-21:
Attach yarn colour A into the first stitch of the row with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 EXT/HDC. CH 1 and turn for row 12-20. After completing row 21, do not CH 1. Fasten off and turn.

(26 EXT/HDC stitches)

Row 22:
Attach yarn colour B into the first stitch of the row with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn.

(26 SC stitches)

Rows 23-32:
Repeat rows 12-21

Row 33:
Repeat row 22

Rows 34-43:
Repeat rows 12-21

Rows 44-53:
Attach yarn colour B into the first stitch of the row with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 EXT/HDC. CH 1 and turn for row 44-52. After completing row 53, do not CH 1. Fasten off and turn.

Attach yarn colour A into the first stitch of the row with a SS and CH 1. Into the same stitch and each stitch across the row, place 1 SC. Fasten off and turn.
